Update and New Music

Hi all. Blogging from my dorm's pc room once again, but it's just me and my soror down here right now. I'm going home tomorrow for the break, and I am OH SO EXCITED!!! This semester has been the worst one yet! But anyhoo...I have some new music from Ne-Yo that I'm really feeling. This single is called, "Single"...really cute song.

And uh...since I'll be home, in the midst of TRYING to study for my Chemistry test that takes place the Monday after break, I will try to blog a little bit more and put y'all on a few other tracks that are old but pretty hot. But yeah..

Oh and Kongrats to the newest additions of the Kappa Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ("Gucci" Chapter), especially the guys from my class (c/o '10) Greg R., Justin W., Mario A., and Chase R. I'm proud of you guys!!! Hopefully I'll be able to put up some pics or video or something...but we all know how that goes...

Happened upon this song last night. It's also by Keri and is titled "Where did He Go". I guess it's about love lost, and she messed it up. Poor Keri!

Woke Up on the Early Side of the bed this morning

Good Day...

Ummm...so in essence I started my day around 3:22am...I was awakened by horrific cramps in my lower abdomen, so I decided to roll over and get some medicine. Opened my creakin ass door, went to the kitchen, fixed me a glass of water, took my pill, and got back in the bed.

The sleep was not good, and 2.5 hours later, the alarm went off, and here I am now, at work...bored, and ready to go home and get in the bed. I feel like crap emotionally and mentally. Seems like all of my goals are getting pushed to the side. It's going to take everything in me not to punch somebody in the face today. But anywayz...

Most of my friends know I'm a music JUNKIE! I like all kinds, but am particularly partial to Hip Hop, Rap, and R&B. When hanging with my hood friends this past weekend, I picked up quite a few tasty songs. We were in one of the various "Courts" prn "Cote" in my city, just chilling outside, gunshots and all...the car was still blasting music from the speakers.

I hear this catchy ass tune and ask my friend, "Who song is this?" "Young Dro", she answered me. Since when did Dro have new music? It's a good chance this song is old as hell, but I doubt it, cuz hood niggas stay on top of the Rap music scene.

Anyhoo...I'm making a post about that soon, hope to find some audio so I can share it with the world.

And maybe 2 wks ago, when coming home from the movies with my cousin and her boyfriend, I heard the song, "We some Playaz" by Crime Mobb. Now mind you this song is a year and some change old, but I had never heard it. I'm a CM fan, actually BOUGHT their first album, but I didn't figure it was that serious this time around. Hate I missed out on this song then tho. It's a catchy ass tune and I LOVE Lil J! That boy can rap, and his swagger exudes and permeates the beat of the record. When he starts the song with, "Lil nigga I got them hands .Got damnit I fear no man"...I get chills every time...

But yeah, whatever. Other cute songs are:

Back In the Day Music Post

I am so in love with Luther Vandross and his music. My mother is a huge fan of Luther, so it was only natural for me to take after her in that respect. But even I, at the age of 19 can appreciate the depth and richness of Luther's voice. He has one of the most angelic, unflawed voices I have ever heard. I LOVE U LUTHER and MISS U SOOOO MUCH!!! You were supposed to sing at my wedding, boo. It's okay because I will be playing and possibly singing some of your songs myself that day. This song I'm about to post is called, "So Amazing"...

Funny story: I was lying in my bed one night trying to get to sleep. All of a sudden a tune pops into my head. "Love has truly been good to me, not even one sad day or minute have I had since you've come my way"...and I couldn't get it out of my head. Next thing you know I'm looking up lyrics and trying to find a free download (which I have been unsuccessful). I'll be buying it on iTunes in a couple of days. But anyway, here is a video of Luther V. performing this beautiful song LIVE. This song, along with "Here and Now" will be played at my wedding.

WOW!!!! Man, I'm a HUUUGE fan of all types of music, especially old school shit, and 90's hits from the likes of Boys II Men, Dru Hill, Mya, Aaliyah, even P. Shitty when he was Puff Daddy and Mase. Well, I sing a lil bit, and I tend to remember random parts of old songs. They get stuck in my head for days until I start humming out hooks. Urges get so strong to hear the whole song that I eventually download it on limewire.

Well, Miss Mya ("My Love is Like Whoa", "Take Me There", etc) is trying to come back out with a brand new single titled "Ridin'". Now truth be told, I am kinda skeptical as to if it is really her singing. I mean, Mya's voice has never been really strong (not that the female singing "Ridin"'s voice is), but hey it could indeed be her. There are certain parts in the song when I'm like, "Yeah that's her" and others where I'm like WTFITS (who the fuck is this sista)?! Anyway, Ashanti is supposedly on a new Jagged Edge track but the chick singing doesn't always sound like her either. I mean, sure your voice can change over time, but damn...these folks evolved THAT MUCH vocally? And to be honest these evolutions really did nothing for their voices...*cough* LOL...

Anyway, back to Mya. So I had the song "It's All About Me" in my head all last week. When I got home I decided to download it. Been bumping it every night since Sunday. Mya has a decent voice. Some of my favorite tracks by or featuring her are: "Best of Me (remix)" with Jay-Z, "Take Me There" with Blackstreet, "Ghetto Superstar" with Praz, "My First Night with You", and "My Love is Like Whoa"....and of course "It's All About Me" with Dru Hill's Sisqo.

But who knew that Mya had some other shit I would start bumpin on a daily basis. The songs I got stuck in my head now HAVE TO BE as old as Mya's career, but they are catchy and cute at the same time. I don't know if any of you have heard these songs, but if not, preview them on limewire. They're not bad at all. The names of the songs are "If you died I wouldn't cry cause you never loved me anyway" ft. Dru Hill (I know that's prolly not the name but that's what limewire said) and "No More Tears (on my pillow)". Both of them are about broken hearts (which I'm not experiencing at the present moment, but I can relate), and "Never Loved Me Anyway" (short title version) is obviously a "die nigga, die" type songs. And Miss Mya doesn't try to hide that fact, or that she's hurt...especially with lyrics like, "I hope you die, I HOPE YOU DIE!" and "You can get struck like ligthening, washed away by the sea, burned in a fire, just don't bring it back to me." (which is my fave part of the song)...

*sigh* but yeah...check those out...any girl is sure to like them if you are remotely interested in Mya. And don't forget to peep out her new song "Ridin". It's catchy, funky, and crazy--and has been deemed by some as the Stalker Anthem of 2007...much like "In My Mind" by Heather Headley was for '06...lol haha...But I'll HOLLA!!!!
